 Miss Bexar County Organization, Inc.

This past year our organization celebrated two momentous events. One was the Miss Bexar County Pageant’s 20th Anniversary. The second was Miss San Antonio’s 75th Anniversary. Even though newer  organizations are “using” the title, it is  interesting to note that  our Miss San Antonio has reigned supreme since 1927 when Lucille Klaus served as the first titleholder to represent San Antonio in the Miss Texas Pageant. Our Miss San Antonio Pageant is reportedly the oldest, continuous pageant in Texas. Additionally, we have been considered Fiesta San Antonio Royalty for many years and just two years ago became an Official Fiesta Event.

Every year since 1927, we have taken our titleholder(s) to compete in the Miss Texas Pageant, a preliminary to the Miss America Pageant, the largest contributor of scholarships for women in the world. Founded in 1921, it provides over $50,000,000 in scholarships annually. Scholarships are won for competing, not just winning. Actually, most local and state winners have received scholarships without ever competing at the National finals. The Miss Bexar County Organization, Incorporated, is a scholarship organization which is a part of the Miss America Organization (MAO), a national, non-profit organization. We are franchised by the Miss Texas Organization (MTO), a fully incorporated pageant that has operated under the auspices of the MAO for more than 50 years.

We, the Miss Bexar County Organization, urge each and every one of you to become involved in our worthwhile program as volunteers, sponsors, or contributors. Our program provides opportunities for deserving young women who, otherwise, might not be able to attend an institute of higher learning. Our contestants are dedicated to education, individual development, and civic endeavors. They are our future! Please contribute to their success by joining with us to provide the assistance they need at this point in their lives. I personally believe that San Antonio and Bexar County has a wealth of intelligent, talented young women who strive for excellence and who need and deserve our support. Through this scholarship program we can provide a way for these young women to continue their educational growth and expand their potential. As partners we can accomplish more than we can individually!
